Lay Vannak, Former Governor of Takeo Province, Pardoned by King

PHNOM PENH: Lay Vannak, the former Governor of Takeo Province, was pardoned by His Majesty the King on Thursday, 6 April 2023.

Article 1 of the Royal Decree states, "Pardon Lay Vannak, male, born in 1973, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Final Criminal Judgment No. 445 VI dated 24 December 2021 of the Supreme Court.”

The former governor of Takeo province was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being found guilty for murdering a woman named Chev Sovathana, who was believed to be his girlfriend, in 2018. The woman was found hanged in a villa in Phsar Ta Kor village, Roka commune in Daun Keo city of Takeo province.
